4th of July Hosting Made Easy: Desserts & Summer Favorites

Jun 22, 2026

Hi friend,

Amanda here, founder of Southern Baked Pie and someone who firmly believes summer memories are made around a table.

Can you believe the Fourth of July is almost here?

I've always loved the simple traditions that come with it. Kids chasing fireflies. Lawn chairs lined up for fireworks. The smell of burgers on the grill. Ice cream melting faster than you can eat it. And of course, pie sitting right in the middle of the table waiting to be shared.

Whether you're hosting the neighborhood, heading to the lake, or simply looking for an excuse to gather with family and friends, I thought I'd share a few of my favorite ways to make the holiday feel festive without adding more to your to do list.

First things first: dessert.

Our STARberry Pie is back for the Fourth of July and it's become one of my favorite holiday traditions. Sweet strawberries baked into our signature all butter crust and topped with festive stars. It's patriotic, delicious, and looks right at home next to a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

If peaches are more your style, our June Pie of the Month, Georgia Peach Pie, is everything I love about summer in Georgia. Juicy peaches, buttery oat crumble, and the kind of dessert that somehow tastes even better eaten outside.

Need more than dessert?

The Southern Supper Box is one of my favorite entertaining shortcuts. Three ready to bake dinner pies that make feeding a crowd easy, whether you're hosting a backyard cookout or coming home from a long day on the water.

When I'm not thinking about pie, I'm usually thinking about how to make gatherings feel special. Here are a few simple things I'm loving this year:

A wreath sash that adds a festive touch to the front door before guests even step inside

A beautiful pitcher for serving lemonade, sweet tea, or a signature summer cocktail

Festive placemats that instantly make the table feel pulled together without much effort

A rechargeable outdoor lamp that keeps the conversation going long after the sun goes down

And I always like to keep a thoughtful hostess gift on hand for last minute cookouts, lake weekends, and summer nights with friends.

If you'd rather do the baking yourself, we have plenty of inspiration on our blog, too. From summer pie recipes to ice cream pairings and seasonal entertaining ideas, there's no shortage of ways to add something sweet to your celebration.

However you're spending the holiday, I hope it's filled with good food, great company, and those little moments that become the stories we tell year after year.

And if you'd rather spend less time baking and more time celebrating, we'd be honored to help.

From our family to yours, Happy Fourth of July.

xo,

Amanda
